About Us

Housing NW is a partnership between Government Office for the North West, North West Housing Forum, 4NW, the National Housing Federation (North) and the Chartered Institute of Housing (North West branch).

Our Aim

Our shared aim is to raise the quality of support mechanisms available to housing practitioners in the North West, by ensuring that they have the best possible access to the means of continuously developing their skills and knowledge to deliver the region’s housing ambitions.

Key areas of activity in this agenda include:

  • Housing Market Renewal;
  • Provision of affordable homes;
  • Delivering decent homes in decent neighbourhoods;
  • Supporting provision of specialist housing; and
  • Contributing to achieving sustainable communities.

How we will do this: the Steering Group

A small steering group chaired by North West Housing Forum (NWHF) in their role as members of the Regional Housing Group takes this work forward. Membership is drawn from 4NW, GONW, the North West Housing Forum and the National Housing Federation North. Secretarial support is provided by the 4NW.

Learning events are primarily targeted at those actively involved in delivery – giving opportunities to develop new networks and exposure to a wider range of activity or experience. Speakers and workshops are appropriate to the needs of this group, practically focused with each session written up to maximise learning potential

Acting on behalf of 4NW, the steering group:

  • Develops an annual programme of at least 4 learning events and specialist seminars;
  • Disseminates good practice information and maintains a website presence;
  • Builds up specialist networks and email groups;
  • Identifies future programmes;
  • Considers and responds to feedback shaping future events accordingly; and
  • Improves the quality of design and commissioning of projects.
